TARGET: 20 participants. Priority will be given to bachelor, master and PhD students.

TEACHING: 7 days of lectures, field trip, geophysical surveys and data analysis activities.

LANGUAGE: English.

DATES: September 28th – October 4th (foreign participants must be in Naples at least on September 27th).

VENUE: Hotel Serino, Serino, Avellino (Italy) – Verteglia Plain, Montella, Avellino (Italy).

ORGANIZERS: University of Naples Federico II SEG Student Chapter & Department of Earth, Environmental and Resources Sciences (DiSTAR – UniNa).

COLLABORATORS: University of Naples Federico II SEG Student Chapter (Naples, Italy), Department of Earth, Environmental and Resources Sciences, DiSTAR-UniNa (Naples, Italy), Istituto per i Sistemi Agricoli e Forestali del Mediterraneo, CNR – ISAFOM (Naples, Italy), Istituto Nazionale di Geofisica e Vulcanologia, INGV (Rome, Italy).

SPONSORS: Society of Exploration Geophysicists, SEG & SEG Foundation, Department of Earth, Environmental and Resources Sciences, DiSTAR-UniNa (Naples, Italy).

FIELD CAMP OUTLINE: the camp will be held in the so called Verteglia Plain (Montella, AV). This site represents a small sedimentary basin located at 1230 m a.s.l. on the Terminio Mount, an important carbonate structure of the Southern Apennines.

In this area, the highly karstified bedrock and the filling pyroclastic sediments characterize a complex and particular hydrogeological scenario. The aim of the field camp is therefore double: training activities on geophysical data acquisitions; detection of geological features of the site through different geophysical measurements.

Experienced professors will open the camp through lectures in order to introduce geological, hydrogeological and geophysical information about the investigating target; later, they will lead participants during a field trip to provide an exhaustive overview of the area.

Experiences about gravimetric, EM (FDEM and GPR), ground and UAV magnetometric measurements, electrical resistivity and reflection seismic methods will be provided.

The surveys will be performed with top ranked instruments, as an example Minivib, MFAM magnetometer and DJI Matrice 600. In this way, the seismic and magnetometric surveys will represent great experiences for participants which will take part into unconventional surveys.

Last days will be dedicated for the interpretation of the collected data.
